So far Thai Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva has shown himself to be an honorable person. Anyone can criticise him and even Thaksin can phone in to talk to his supporters without any interference.
It bodes well for Thailand to have an honorable person at the helm.
Mr Abhisit the prime minister thanked the demonstrators for their peaceful protest and the police for their patience.
oh yes, Mr abhisit is really patience and cool, very handsome too, just hope that my uncle behave the same as him. There we will be in for some peace here.l

Remember LKY's ruse of using military intervention in a 'freak' election?
Thais don't hate Thaksin. I travel to bangkok 3 times in 6 months and almost every Thai I met wants him back. The people I spoke to vary from different backgrounds, drivers, hawkers, doctors and policemen.
One must remember that Thailand is NOT Singapore. While corruption is wrong, the Thais have grudgingly accepted it as a way of life. One taxi driver I spoke to summed it up for me,
"Thaksin may have taken money from the people, but what he has done for the country is more than what any politician has done so far"
The Thais just want someone competent, corrupt or not.
Sad but true

Of course it is not true. I speak to well educated Thais and everyone knows he must go or he will make everyone (except his cronies and dogs) miserable.
Even if short term, Thaksin is good, but then what is "good"?
Thais have a "Let's eat drink and be merry" attitude and that is very admirable. Those that want money can work hard for it.
Thaksin wants to manipulate Thai society into his own image and in so doing, pack the judiciary, police and army with his relatives and cronies...
If Thaksin was not brought down, then like Silliporeans, Thais would be heavily indebted and cannot live their "Let's eat drink and be merry" lifstyle.
You want competence, you have competence in the Thai Obama, Thai Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva without the Thaksin despotism!

You are a typical Singaporean with a brain infused with propaganda by the dishonorable despots. Its the Thai people that has to " buck up./!" The government only sets the stage for the people to " buck up./!" in freedom to do their thing without despots telling them what to do and worse of all, take massive amounts of their money.

What is a few days of airport closures compare to despots sucking 300 billion (and continual sucking) of public money and losing the money to foreigners?

Thaksin was trying to do a "cursed despot", controlling all the various democractic instituitions and becoming a dictator. When that happens, the people do not "buck up" they become "slaves" and the dictator find ways and means to "force" them to work, like making everything expensive and making them indebted.
Everything becomes expensive and massive amounts of public money is siphoned away using this method (through the price mechanism).
Therefore it is not for this present government to buck up but to step back and let the people have the initiative to do their thing. This way, you have a strong country.

Uncle, u also wear yellow color polo shirt ar??
I think you let your own domestics political view cloud your own judgement.
Read this quote by Asian Human Rights Commission.
The Thaksin government was a civilian autocracy...... But a military autocracy is worse than a
civilian autocracy.
The Thaksin government sought to undermine the constitution, harass gatherings of political
opponents, and control the media through advertising revenue and criminal defamation. But by its very nature, it did not have the audacity to abandon the country's supreme law and ban civil rights. By contrast, and by its very nature, the army (coup) has already done so.
Thai politics are filled with military coup, What we are viewing now is the remnant of power vacum left over by Thaksin. The fact that the current stalemate reflect the political consequences of a sudden coup. However I am more concern with the system of democractics elected official continue to function in the shadow of military. So if the future leaders must always look at the military?
The recent activities by the Thai military after the coup events put into question on how much does the civilian Govt really have control over their Arm forces.
Fighting erupted on the Thai-Cambodia border, military officials from both sides said on
Wednesday, as a row over a disputed patch of land near the ancient Preah Vihear temple boiled over.
BANGKOK, Jan. 18 -- The Thai armed forces have been accused of towing hundreds of migrants out to sea last month and leaving them to their fate with inadequate food and water and only paddles as a means to reach land.
The migrants allegedly arrived off Thailand's Andaman coast after setting sail from Bangladesh. Most of them are from the Rohingya ethnic minority, tens of thousands of whom have fled to Bangladesh to escape repression and economic hardship in their homeland in western Burma
Of course a military dictatorship is bad... but the military was simply righting a wrong and getting rid of the despot and restoring democracy.
The Thai people knew that and gave the soldiers flowers, placed on their tanks, during the coup.
It is like, if a democratically elected government declares the nation communists and suspend the constituition, only a dog infested miltary would stand idly by.

What a stupid question. Although I am not an asslicker and sh!t taster like you, I was born here, that is why I am still here.
The wise King of Siam would never do a stupid thing like this:
"Abdullah: Perak ruler approves Zambry as MB
New Straits Times - 25 minutes ago
Sultan of Perak Sultan Azlan Shah asked the government of Datuk Seri Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin to resign yesterday after determining that he no longer commanded a majority in the state assembly."
Instead of respect, the people will curse him. Let the politicians play it out. If the government cannot muster enough support, then let the opposition win a no-confidence vote and kick out the government, instead of the Sultan kicking out the government and swearing in one to his his liking.
