Actually if got lots of money, I do think Singapore is one of the best places to retire.... and to me, quite a high percentage of my conclusion stems from Singapore's geographical location... Next is because I sort of understand the system...

Another friend who makes 5 figure in Singapore and still struggling to pay his monthly bills recently asked me how a Malay family on $2000 a month with 6 kids can still survive in Singapore? I suppose it is all about how you spend your money...Maybe, I dont know I don't live in Singapore but a place even worse like flushing good money down the toilet>LOL.

Yup, depends on expenditure as well... me don't spend a lot anyway.... 800 a month just nice for spending on many of my needs and wants... the rest for savings and investing...

There was a time I could even start an AV museum if I wanted to.All given away to my equally perverted South-East Asian friends.Saving is a very good habit but don't become another Uncle PK YAP.You need to spend $$$ to feel alive sometimes.

Thing is... I don't see the need to spend... It's in my nature not to spend much.... Call me stingy, but I really fail to see how some people my age without much committments can over-spend....
Of course, I do spend $$, although seldom, to go cinemas... Thinking maybe end of year bring my gf go tour after 1 year of hard work...

Believe it or not there are still shops everywhere selling them like stamps.Japanese don't download from internet when it has become a hobby.Just like when people dont buy ladies underwear but steals them clothes hanger (See Pedo Bear).At the rate you are saving you prolly could take your GF on a space shuttle ride at the end of this year>LOL

I mean your museum never come alive, if it does, you will be very happy. Dumb dumb.Spending is an individual decision, but definitely you dun get much frens with a stingy mentality. Spend wisely, save moderately, invest smartly. The worst case are those Uncles and Aunties spending thousands on comestic, surgery and fashion just to look young again, and again spending thousands just to maintain it, that is not wise spending, we should learn to grow old gracefully.
