Hi Brothers,
I need advice here, recently I met up with a hirer and he asked me to drive for saturday and sunday at $102 per day, it is a silver cab, Kia magnetis auto. However, i checked with premier co, it is only $84, is it the norm to charge me $102?.
I am living in the west. He lives in Choa chu kang, quite far. But I cannot find a relief job for sat and sunday in the west yet.
And as a newbie, i also need lots of advices from you guys. Is orchard road consider a CBD? If i go to Premier CO and pay deposit of $1000 can i pay in installment (me very poor) and also do I need to go thru a certain IT course?
Thanks alot

The rental for KIA (no contract or 3-month contract) is $102.72.
Pool has always advise newbie to start off as a Comfort relief. Please listen to his advice.
Dun drive full shift as you are starting out. While you are learning the rope of the trade, start with as low a cost as possible.
Some companies allow you to pay the deposit in instalments. Call them and check it out as policies changes frequently.
Hi Insg,
Many thanks,
I have just called Premier Co, they said can pay by installment, however, only 2 installment.
I understand Pool advices, just want to know how much is the differences btw comfort relief and silvercab. Where can I get a relief driver job for sat and sunday in the west with comfort?? I mean I have be searching around and the closest I get is from this guy with a silver cab.
Thanks for your CBD map, very helpful.

Normally Comfort only allow those who already registered as relief driver to search for hirer through their system. Since you haven't got a hirer, you may go to Comfort's office at Sin Ming Drive and ask them to help you find a hirer near your place. I dun know whether they will entertain you if you telephone them.
I think Comfort can allow up to 4 instalments. However, the group insurance is only available when the deposit is fully paid.
I have just quit Silvercab, I dun recommend them.
Oh! may i know why you quit silvercab?
Due to Comfort popularity, Comfort is now almost full, due to good business and economy now. It will take a long period before they can find me a hirer near my place. If only they can get.
If you are driving as a relief, all company policy is almost the same. Half shift = half rent. Full shift = Full rental.
Just that certain hirer are more generous and they like to round down (eg Full shift $102 they run down to $100). The reason behind why u should go for Comfort is that u can depend on calls when you experienced difficulties in sweeping the floor.
With calls, you can really learn the trick with reasonable good starting income initially. When you have become more experienced after a while, then start thinking about what's next.
Dun be hasty, just wait a while longer to find the perfect hirer u need.
Ok, comfort don't accept calls, have to go down and register first. I just feel that it will be difficult for me as I am only looking for Sat and Sun relief. It could be a long wait.
Thanks for everything. I go down comfort and try.

See here.
Easy access to diesel pump station is also a plus for Comfort. For Silver, only at Chang Charn Rd. O/s petrol station is too expensive for a newbie to bear.

Another way is to put notes on taxi's wind screen to see whether any hirer is looking for relief driver for Sat & Sun. I think your desired time slot have high chance cos hirers would like to rest on these 2 days.
You can also try Sat on one vehicle and Sun on another if you can't get 2 days on the same vehicle.
ask your hirer is it he wanna rest on sat & sun? if yes ask for market rate -$20 off rental u drive he rest
2 days flat fee $160-$170 take it or leave it
don't let this lao gui eat u
he already got 3days free rental/mth from premier
so if let go -$40 can rest 2 days gd deal for him also
comfort allow 4 x 250...comfort full liao...??? No wonder they can sibei how lian to driver...
Hi, All, thanks for your help,
Anyway, I will go down to comfort maybe tomorrow and apply, then see how, wait for 2 weeks, and also, hold that hirer, in fact, my hirer is a woman, seem like she is driving morning and her husband driving night, cos when I spoke over the phone, i heard a man at the back telling her to quote the rental price. And, thank Teolk for you info, I will try to bargain with them if Comfort is too long to wait. If Choa Chu Kang, i have to talk MRT or bus there, another cost.
As I read your post, I bet saturday can earn more than Sunday. Maybe just relief for one day will do.

To put that notes, I have to go carpark all over the west side, by the way, I am in Boon Lay.

Hi Bro Zero 5,
Many thanks to you, I am living in Boon Lay, from the pool u recommended me, i managed to get 2 guys, one said he is going to change company from SMRT to Comfort soon, so I have to wait for him, the other said he want me to drive on sat and sun from 5am to 5pm only, at $50 per shift..do you think it is worth it...or bo wah?

Sat & Sun crowd start around 11am. 5-10+am no many people.
If you drive only 2 days, better drive night shift. Cos day shift's income is limited (too many taxis fighting for limited pax, no midnight/CBD surcharge).
Looking at the profit earn, it excite me, but as newbie, I still got much to learn, just worry that I cannot even make the up for the rental and fuel. However I take heart from all of you, my motto is simple, if you all can make it, y not me. Just got to stick to the right ink.

Maybe, i try to look for sat night and a sunday day. Zoro said reliefs are KING, but somehow, i find hard to negiotiate with them, these hirers are tough and not flexible. Let me go search for more. Thanks Insg

Cos now everybody w/TVL thought the market is good and dive in. So now it becomes the hirer's market. When the taxi market is down, then it return to relief's market.
Taxi demand fluctuates like stock market.

Oh! kind of supply and demand at play, you are right, today, most people look at taxi vocation as a lucrative one, but I know it is still not easy. I saw some people wanted super relief Driver, what is that??? any different from relief Driver.
super relief only drive for a few days for a hirer and then he can go over to another taxi .He can be super relief for othey Coy 2 provided he pay the deposit . HIs rate is much lower than normal rental rate . This can be negotiated with the hirer .

Wha! so he is kind of like a freelancer, but why his rate can be lower than a normal relief driver like me (do not have so much money to pay deposits to many coyS)
