SINGAPORE: Motorists can expect shortened evening Electronic Road Pricing (ERP) operating hours starting Wednesday.
The gantries affected are along the northbound Central Expressway (CTE) and the southbound Singapore River Line.
The Land Transport Authority (LTA) said the shortened ERP operating hours will give motorists greater flexibility in choosing their travel timings for home-bound trips.
On weekdays, the gantry at the northbound CTE will operate from 5.30pm to 8pm.
This means motorists who do not wish to pay ERP will no longer have to wait until 10.30pm.
LTA said the changes are to ensure the ERP scheme remains relevant and manages road congestion.
It also said it received feedback from motorists who questioned the need for road pricing in the later part of the evening along the CTE.
One woman said she heard some motorists would stay in the office until the ERP operating hours were over, before they hit the road.
Four gantries along Singapore River into the city will also have shortened operating hours.
The ERP at New Bridge Road, South Bridge Road, southbound Fullerton Road and southbound Bayfront Avenue will end at 7pm, instead of 7.30pm.
LTA said this change will mean that motorists entering the Shenton Way-Chinatown area after 7pm can do so without incurring ERP charges.
LTA is also relocating gantries at Nicoll Highway and Crawford Street.
The existing gantry at Nicoll Highway will move further down to just before the Ophir Flyover and the existing gantry from Crawford Street will be moved to Republic Boulevard.
Meanwhile, the existing gantry at Republic Boulevard will be removed.
These relocations will allow motorists to access East Coast Parkway via the Nicoll Highway without having to pay ERP at the Bugis-Marina Centre cordon.
Works to relocate the gantries will start next year.
no matter how they move the erp gantry, there will still be as many cars on the road. they are shifting the jam from place A to place B nia, not solving the congestion problem.

Drivers going to Woodlands now , can chose to use both CTE and BKE .
Last time 10.30pm time , they squeeze into PIE ..... caused PIE to jam , and CTE also jam .

This evening ERP is a scam lah. Morning go to work ok lah I understand. Must control traffic. But evening after work go home can relax relax drive jam also nevermind. But the stupid LTA want to tax us even when going home? What's the logic is this?

Ya even CTE towards town before Ave 1 the road shoulder also gone, now become lane to exit ave 1. Last time the road shoulder so big. KNN I still got caught by TP there or gong me $130 + 4 points.
I write in after the convert the road shoulder ask them waive my point they says last time is last time, now is now. KNN might as well says last time they wear shorts....

We feedback LTA is the bottleneck at Moulmein exit that caused the jam until Chin Swee tunnel .
The knnbccb LTA people they dun believe , evening ERP gantry still ON !!!
Then they slowly widen Moulmein ..... ERP also ON !!!
Then they claims : " Traffic manage properly now all due to ERP ."
F*ck lar , all due to widening of Moulmein Road exit .
Then jam again .... this time slip road into PIE , why ?
Cos that is the only way to bypass into KPE without incurring any ERP at Braddell if you wish to go to Sengkang side !!!!
